We are looking for a Master’s student or final-year engineering student to join GEPEA – Nantes Université in Saint-Nazaire, France, within the Horizon Europe project S2B – Solar To Butanol.
The internship will quantitatively investigate the impact of day/night cycles on the growth and n-butanol production of a genetically engineered Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803 strain.
The work will combine continuous photobioreactor experiments and quantitative bioprocess analysis: cyanobacterial cultivation, O₂/CO₂ gas exchange monitoring, material, carbon and nitrogen balances, and determination of specific rates, yields and productivities. Experimental results will be compared with predictions from the S2B photobioprocess model.
Topic
Photosynthetic n-butanol production by Synechocystis under day/night light cycles
Profile
Master’s or final-year engineering student in process engineering, bioprocess engineering, biotechnology or a related field.
