We’re pleased to announce that the S2B—Solar to Butanol project began in October 2024. The official kick-off event was held on November 8th 2024, hosted by Turun Yliopisto—University. Many thanks to them for their warm welcome and excellent organization.
S2B project aims to revolutionize sustainable biofuel production by developing next-generation photosynthetic microbes. By shifting from traditional microbial suspensions to an artificial leaf structure, partners aim to enhance the efficiency and durability of solar-driven biocatalysis. S2B will significantly improve n-butanol production—a valuable fuel and chemical feedstock—using engineered cyanobacteria and sunlight.
